What is para tracheal?

The para tracheal refers to the lymph nodes located around the trachea, which is the windpipe that connects the mouth and nose to the bronchi in the lungs. The para tracheal lymph nodes serve as filters for lymphatic fluid that drain from the head, neck, and upper chest. They are an important part of the immune system and help to fight infections and diseases by producing and storing white blood cells. Para tracheal lymph node enlargement can occur due to a variety of factors, including infections, inflammation, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. Diagnosis and treatment of para tracheal lymph node disorders involve a variety of tests and imaging studies, as well as medical management and/or surgery depending on the underlying cause.
